Merriang Special Developmental School

Education Sydney introduces Merriang Special Developmental School in Lalor, for all your education and learning needs.

Merriang Special Developmental School (SDS) is a dual campus school.  The Middle and Later Years Campus is located in Duncan Road, Lalor.  The Early Years Campus is in Gordons Road, South Morang. The Early Years Campus caters for students in the age range Prep to Year 4, the Middle and Later Years Campus caters for students in year 5 to year 12 age groups.

The Principal oversees both campuses, with a senior member of staff responsible for the day to day running of each campus.

Our school caters for the learning and developmental needs of students who have an IQ of 55 and below.  A significant number of the students experience multiple disabilities, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The current enrolment exceeds 100 with a higher percentage of students in the prep to year 6 age categories.  It is expected that numbers will increase annually as this has been the current trend over the past four years.  The school currently has 60 staff, some of whom are part time.  In addition the school employs the services of a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, music teacher and specialist art teachers at each campus. We also have access to a DEECD Educational Psychologist when needed.
